Le 17 août 2009, le premier coup de pioche est donné, le terrassement, l’empierrement et la dalle devant recevoir le four sont réalisés courant été 2009. L’idée étant de pouvoir profiter des beaux jours pour effectuer ces travaux.
Pour couler la dalle, je convoque mon équipe de joyeux maçons : Thierry et Fred, les compagnons de mes deux filles ainsi que Maurice. Manque de chance, il pleut toute la journée et à verse ! Mais il en faut plus que ça pour nous arrêter. Le ciment prend directement sur nos vêtements mais la dalle est coulée à la fin de la journée !
Le 28 octobre 2009, je pose la première pierre avec Thierry.
Contrairement aux prévisions, la construction des murs en pierre se déroule sans problèmes. Arrivé à un mètre de haut, il me faut arrêter là et penser à la construction du four proprement dit (le cœur du problème, si l’on veut manger du pain un jour !).
Pour mettre en place la pierre qui servira de margelle (250 kg environ !), il faut des muscles. Je fais à nouveau appel à Maurice qui se trouve être un ancien pilier (vraiment ancien mais encore costaud !!!) du CAB, club de rugby de notre capitale gaillarde, Brive.
Je remplis le volume délimité par les murs de cailloux calibre 100/150 mm (70 cm d’épaisseur). Sur ces cailloux j’étale et tasse 10 cm d’épaisseur de cailloux calibre 20/45 mm.
A ce stade des travaux, il faut prévoir un abri pour la suite du chantier. C’est Thierry qui m’aide à la fabrication de cet abri qui n’est que provisoire mais qui doit quand même résister à l’hiver (qui sera particulièrement rigoureux et enneigé cette année-là !). Nous montons donc une charpente légère recouverte d’une bâche.
